Celebrating 30 Years as Canada’s Favourite Patio Furniture Retailer

30 years ago, DOT Furniture began with a simple but powerful vision: to inspire people to want more from their outdoor spaces. What started as one man’s idea has grown into one of Canada’s leading luxury patio furniture retailers, now offering an expansive range of both outdoor and indoor furnishings.
Today, as we celebrate our 30th anniversary, that original vision is stronger than ever. While the business has evolved and expanded across Ontario, one thing remains unchanged: DOT’s commitment to style, quality, service, and innovation.

Now, with the next generation working alongside our founder, we continue to bring fresh passion & forward-thinking ideas to the brand while honoring the legacy that built it.

30 Years of Milestones: The DOT Story

Our First Store in Oakville, Ontario
In 1996, Canadian businessman Anthony Niceforo recognized a gap in the patio furniture market. At the time, options in Ontario were limited. Determined to change that, he opened the very first DOT Furniture location in Oakville.

The store featured a refined selection of backyard essentials, including resin, aluminum-framed, and cushioned furniture, laying the foundation for what would become a thriving business.

Introducing Cast Aluminum to Canadian Backyards
Before DOT, wrought iron dominated the patio furniture market. While durable, it was heavy and expensive. DOT helped popularize cast aluminum as a stylish, lightweight, and more accessible alternative without compromising on quality.

This innovation quickly became a staple in outdoor furniture design across Canada.

Elevating Comfort with Sling Furniture
DOT introduced one of the most durable and supportive sling chair designs on the market. With improved structure and comfort, sling seating became a strong competitor to even the most premium patio furniture options.

Building a Full-Service Experience
Early on, DOT established an in-house repair department and home delivery service. These offerings became defining features of the brand, allowing for unmatched product knowledge, service, and customer care.

Within just a few years, DOT expanded to 20 locations and continued importing innovative patio furniture from around the world.

The DOT Catalogue Tradition
From the first catalogue in 1997 to today, the annual DOT catalogue has become a customer favourite. Showcasing the full product range and offering backyard inspiration, it remains an essential part of the DOT experience.

Expanding Brand Awareness Across Canada
DOT brought patio furniture into the spotlight with television commercials, including the memorable “Relax… DOT Style” campaign on CityTV. These efforts helped introduce stylish outdoor living to more Canadian households.
