Copper Teak Care and Maintenance
Copper Teak is a tropical hardwood with a beautiful golden colour when it is
new. Over time, as it is exposed to the elements, it gradually changes from the
golden colour of new Copper Teak to a silver-grey patina which distinguishes
finely aged, outdoor copperteak. After a while this silver-grey patina changes
to a dark-grey look if it remains untreated. To regain the smooth finish and
golden colour, you will need to sand your furniture regularly. To prolong the
period of time needed between sandings, tung oil may be applied. If you choose
to apply tung oil, apply as often as needed, this will be determined by the
elements and amount of exposure. Hairline cracks are a normal occurrence in
outdoor wood furniture, and do not affect the durability of the wood.
